"My Singapore Story" Micro Film Competition Terms and Conditions

1. This competition is open to micro film of all disciplines (documentary, drama, animation, etc.).

 

2. Micro film entry can be submitted on an individual or team. There is no limit to the number of members in a team.

 

3. This competition is open to all, except members from the “My Singapore Story’ Micro Film Organizing committee who are directly involved in the organisation of the competition, and judges of the competition.

 

4. Open Category and Student Category accepts all Singaporean and people residing in Singapore aged thirteen and above. Overseas category accepts non-resident of Singapore aged thirteen and above ONLY.

 

5. Entry into ‘My Singapore Story’ Micro Film Competition is non-chargeable.

 

6. There is no limit to the number of entry and category for each participant or team.

 

7. All entrants are encouraged to register at official website to receive competition updates and workshops’ details.

 

8. All entrants must fill up entry form with valid particulars together with clip(s) submission. One entry form must be filled up for each entry. Student category entrant must submit copy of valid student pass together with entry form.  

 

9. Acceptable film formats are .mp4 / .mov / .avi / .wmv. File dimension must be 16:9 widescreen format - 1280x 720 or 640 X 360.

 

10. All entries should not exceed 30MB. If you are unable to submit your entries through our online entry form, do send your video(s) together with entry form (downloadable from official website) and email to microfilmsg@gmail.com.

 

11. All entries must be accompanied by film title in either Chinese or English.

 

12. A short synopsis (of no more than 150 words) in either Chinese or English of the story must be submitted together with the micro film.

 

13. The entire length of micro film minimum running is 30 seconds and shall not be exceeding 10 minutes.

 

14. All entry must insert ‘My Singapore Story’ Microfilm at the end of clip.

 

15. Micro film produced in English must be subtitled in Chinese, micro film produced in Chinese must be subtitled in English. For other languages, micro film must be subtitled in English and Chinese.

 

16. Entries must be motion pictures or screenplays which are original, undistributed works produced written and/or directed by the submitting filmmakers. Withdrawal from competition is not allowed.

 

17. The submitting filmmaker and team members must be directly responsible for the creative control and direction of the film produced.

 

18. Filmmaker is responsible for obtaining all the requisite rights, clearances and permissions in respect to the micro film(s). ‘My Singapore Story’ Micro Film Competition organizing committee, Singapore Federation of Chinese Clan Associations (SFCCA), Singapore Chinese Culture Centre (SCCC) and Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) assume no responsibility for violation of copyright laws or any other applicable laws and regulations in respect to  the micro film,

 

19. Obscene, pornographic or illegal materials are not allowed under any circumstances. The enforcement of this rule will be at the discretion of the ‘My Singapore Story’ Micro Film Competition organizing committee, SFCCA, SCCC, SPH.  

 

20. Submission of entry automatically transfers all rights to "My Singapore Story" Micro Film Competition organizing committee, SFCCA, SCCC, SPH. By submitting entry to ‘My Singapore Story’ Micro Film Competition, each entry expressly grants permission to use their name, country, film name in publicity materials on and outside of the competition website.

 

21. Entrant(s) shall indemnify, defend and hold the competition, the co-organisers, SFCCA, SCCC, SPH, their employees, its agents, and its representatives, harmless from and against any and all claims, damages, costs, liabilities and expenses which may be incurred by reason of any breach of these representations, or arising out of or in connection with any content in micro film(s) or otherwise by the competition’s use of the micro film(s).

 

22. Entries may be disqualified for the following reasons at the co-organisers absolute discretion:
• Inappropriate materials
• Incomplete application materials and documentation
• Submissions of unacceptable content in the micro film(s)

 

23. The winning teams and entries of the competition will be decided by a panel of judges except ‘Most Popular Micro Film Award – Gold, Silver, and Bronze” which is decided through public voting. Computation of scores and selection of winners by the panel shall be final. Further correspondence and disputes will not be entertained.

 

24. All entrants may be filmed, photographed, and/or interviewed before, during and/or after the competition. The intellectual property rights for these recorded material(s) shall reside with the co-organisers - SFCCA, SCCC and SPH who reserve all rights to use these recorded materials for promotional and marketing purposes.

 

25. Entrants grant all rights to organizing committee, SFCCA, SCCC, SPH and its supporting organisations to use, upload and screen their micro film(s) and recorded material(s) of the entrant(s) (as described in Clause 24 above) on the competition's website, co-organizers', supporting organisation's websites, social media and events. And shall not be limited or restricted to the above mentioned.

 

26. By entering this competition, entrants agree and consent to each of the co-organisers independently collecting, using and sharing their personal data, including their name, photograph and NRIC number (as may be necessary), amongst themselves and disclosing the same between the co-organisers, and/or their respective authorised service providers for the purposes of (i) administering and promoting the competition, including to contact the winners of the competition; and (ii) publicity and/or advertising campaigns across all media, including in the co-organisers’ printed publications, audio and/or visual presentations, promotional materials and/or their websites, whether in the original or edited format. The participants further agree and acknowledge that each of the co-organisers shall have the independent right to use their personal data for the purposes as aforesaid and that each of the Organisers and Sponsor shall independently own the copyright and all other intellectual property rights in and to the records of the personal data without any further compensation to the participant(s).

 

27. By participating in the competition, entrants agree and consent to the competition terms and conditions, and to the co-organisers collecting, using and disclosing the personal data which you have submitted, and sharing such personal data amongst themselves, for the purpose of contacting you via mail, electronic transmission (eg. e-mail), SMS, telephone, and other means of communication (whether via your Singapore telephone numbers or otherwise) to inform you about their products and services.

 

28. SFCCA, SCCC and SPH shall not be liable for any safe custody, return, and non-delivery or missing of entries, late, misdirected or unavailable network, server or other connections or technical failures.

 

29. Prize(s) are non-transferable and non-exchangeable.

 

30. "My Singapore Story" Micro Film Competition Organizing Committee, SFCCA, SCCC and SPH reserve all rights to substitute the publicized prizes with other prizes of similar commercial value, at their sole discretions, and their decision(s) on all matters relating to the competition shall be final and binding. Winners list will be published on zaobao.com

 

31. The co-organisers - SFCCA, SCCC, SPH reserve the right to amend these terms and conditions at their absolute discretion without prior notification.

 

32. By taking part in "My Singapore Story" Micro Film Competition, participants accept the above rules and regulations.
